PERSONAL GROWTH LABORATORY (PGL)

These are open to anyone who wishes to attend. The PGL is an intense immersive experience that often leads to life-changing discoveries of the self.
The lab typically offers participating members an environment of non-judging exploration of the self and one’s own psychosocial history. This can lead to a better understanding of the past in a ‘here & now’ context. Explorations are taken to the next level of awareness that makes it possible to look at the tensions that exist between the self and the several roles that each one of us essays in our professional and personal lifespaces.
We use several structures based on the work of Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson, Melanie Klein and often explore through the medium of psychodrama. This enable participants to understand their history in the larger context of personality and phychoanalytical theories which have a universal exceptance.
All participants are expected to make and submit a report of their experience and commitment to change.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN PSYCHOANALYTICAL INTERVENTIONS (PDP-PI)

This is a 2 phase Internship of two 6-day immersive labs, usually conducted twice a year.
Entry is by invitation only to Our Identities PGL participants. Interested individuals who have participated in Process Labs for at least one week may attend Phase 1 after writing a statement of purpose.
The PDP-PI is intended for individuals who intend to take this work further, to increase their understanding and awareness of themselves and their identity patterns for self-development. This internship programme benefits professionals who intend to increase their sharpness for group diagnosis and an enhanced understanding of Organisational Psychodynamics for client systems.
There are two live projects that participants will be required to complete between Phase-I and Phase-II.

Enlivening Self & Igniting Potential

The lab typically offers participating members an environment of non-judging exploration of the self and one’s own psychosocial history and its footprint in the current engagements in life and at work. This can lead to a better understanding of the past in a ‘here & now’ context. Explorations are taken to the next level of awareness that makes it possible to look at the tensions that exist between the self and the several roles that each one of is performing. Many propensities that may enable and disable alignments between values of the self, and values of the organisation and or team can be examined too.
Often, these programmes offer a rejuvenating time and space in an otherwise mechanistic experience of striving to maintain an elusive work - life balance.
Intrapersonal sensitivity often leads to interpersonal sensibilities in these programmes where many from same departments and organisation are co-travellers in an exploratory journey.
We use several structures based on the work of Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson, Melanie Klein and often explore through the medium of psychodrama.
All participants are expected to make and submit a report of their experience and commitment to change.

Induction Programmes

These are programmes that bring in the human and developmental component in induction processes in organisations, especially at entry and mid – level. These programmes have quite specifically been designed weave in a human aspect in compliance to organisational systems and allows members to understand that self-identity does not need to be abandoned in the adherence of systemic requirements as one makes an active choice in structuring the role identities in operation.

Rejuvenation and Realignment Programmes

Many senior managers and executives experience a plateauing of their careers and life itself. The chronological age for such managers is ever decreasing in the last decade. Our programmes offer a rejuvenating pause to reconnect to their own vitality of the being, which is often put on the back burner in the course of pursuing success, both professionally and socially. This is a good pitstop that enables members to realign their goals and desires to the current reality. Our programmes also empower members with an ability to take a deep intrapersonal drive that enhances the interpersonal experience in the present context, because many of the paradigms of interpersonal engagements are grounded in older meanings that can distort the perception of current interpersonal engagements.

Leadership Development Programmes

These are custom developed in an industry / sector specific manner. We all have seen many instances of employees rising in the hierarchy on the basis of their technical / domain specific excellence. One has often seen stress and burnouts occur at this crucial stage of their careers. Programmes such as these take a compassionate view of these phenomena. Many a times, this rise in the hierarchy needs such employees to develop new competencies in people skills. Our programmes deploy constructs and methodologies using the Organisational Psychodynamics paradigm. These programmes are designed in a way that participants respond to the strategic developmental needs of the leadership team. Additionally, we train them as Human processes trainers if they / the organisation desires the new competency development to be cascaded in the hierarchy. We found very encouraging results in a public sector company in the Oil industry.

Understanding Thresholds

This is a programme that helps students [ we have offered these mainly to 2nd year MBA students] understand the nature of the many thresholds at this stage of their life and careers. Often these thresholds look like hurdles. We enable the students to look at these as staging points rather that hurdles to leap over.
A candid look at one’s history empowers them to take a ‘here & now’ look at their history and heritage. Past hurts, humiliations, deprivations are examined in the light of ‘current’ realities in a way that helps take stock of one’s own repertoire of choices and strengths / vulnerabilities. The vast universe of choices, both in action and I locating in the various role identities is explored.
We additionally use a set of Psychometric tools to give the participants a yardstick for themselves to return every once in a while, over the years.
We have often had students coming in for a PGL a few years after their lab in the college.

Team and Value Alignment Programmes

This is a popular programme for teachers in many schools.
The basic principle at play here is that what is inside [my experiences of life and work life till now] often colours the meaning that I give to experiences at work. When one is unaware of the far-reaching effects of this unseen phenomenon, large amounts of stress develop in the working environment, leading to a general loss of sensitivity towards both students and colleagues. Very often, then members of the institution start taking refuge in rules and systems in the place of human values in class and the staff room.

We have received a large amount of feedback telling us about the enhancement in the treatment of PTM’s, class handling, and general team bonding from several schools, especially in the interdepartmental communications.

Testimonials

The personal growth lab not only helped me to open up freely and reflect back on my life journey so far with other participants but also enabled me to understand how my primary system and secondary system are inter related. It helped to understand how I normally react to different situations that I am come across in my life. It empowered me to think me as an individual and the different roles that I play in my life.

I have discovered that - I am a human being and it is natural to get hurt. The belief about emotional invincibility is not allowing me to see things as they are. Unless I allow myself to be vulnerable, growth might not be possible. This might make me more open to pain, but perhaps less likely to suffer from it.
I will overcome the hurt/pain through acceptance. I am putting tremendous energy in holding my feelings. It has made me feel helpless and pre-occupied with past. Sooner or later, I will have to accept them. I want to give myself permission to experience pain, take responsibility for it and express it directly. I do have the option to choose a healthy means of expression, rather than withdrawal and disengagement.

The Learning experience at “Our Identities” which I attended during Month of April 2018 was really amazing. I would like to thank you and your entire team for a well-designed experience. It was really a self-discovery for me.
After identities, actually the journey begins for participants on the path of understanding inner dimensions of own behavior and personality. We get to know each aspects of theory at deeper level in our own life stages. This exercise was insightful and towards inward direction. One need to peep thru his own life events and explore the possibility of feel the same way as they felt at the time of event. The overall exercise was very well designed and mentored by your expert leadership.
